Lecturer in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology

The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at The University of Georgia invites applications for a nine-month appointment as Lecturer in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. This is a non-tenure track faculty position with the expectation of annual renewal.

Successful applicants must be able to begin teaching the first week of August 2018. A Ph.D. in a relevant field (biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or similar) is required. Responsibilities include instruction of three sections of a one-semester Introductory Biochemistry and Molecular Biology service course each semester. This course aims to build understanding of protein structure and function and metabolism among science and engineering students who are not biochemistry majors, including many pre-health professional students.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant, dynamic, and forward-thinking group of faculty engaged in teaching this course and in offering progressive undergraduate and graduate instruction across life science departments, including several faculty who specialize in biology education research. The University of Georgia is also home to the SEER Center (Scientists Engaged in Education Research; https://seercenter.uga.edu/), which supports collaborations among scientists and educators across campus to investigate and improve undergraduate STEM instruction.
