Outside of three educational and informative days of workshops, we have some great evening events arranged so registrants have the opportunity to socialize with each other and our sponsors.

Photo of ABLE attendees at the 1979 meetingJoin us at 6:00 p.m. in the University Suite of historic Ohio Stadium (a.k.a. ‘The Horseshoe’) as we open the 40th Annual ABLE Meeting.  Greet friends and colleagues from years past while meeting many new members this year over refreshments and celebrating four decades of ABLE.  For those interested, tours of the facility will be given later in the evening.  RSVP for this event on the conference registration form.

Movie Night sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute will feature the short film Some Animals Are More Equal than Others: Keystone Species and Trophic Cascades.  Joining us to talk about the film after will be Parks Collins. Parks is a biology professor at Mitchell Community College in Statesville, NC, where he teaches general biology and ecology courses. He is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University (B.S. in Biology) and The University of Nebraska at Kearney (M.S. in Biology). His students are involved in undergraduate research projects that explore the behavior of urban animals using motion-activated trail cameras. Since 2009, he has led summer expeditions to Yellowstone National Park where students have conducted research. He and his wife have three children and spend most of their time in the woods.
