Would you like to take a more active role in the business of ABLE, but don’t know how? Have you been attending ABLE and would like to take a leadership role, but don’t yet know enough about how things work?

Well, we have a place for you. Consider being nominated for a Member-at-Large position. If elected, you will have a four-year commitment to being a part of the board of ABLE. This usually involves arriving early for the conference and spending the day before the actual conference doing the business of the organization. You will also serve on some of the committees of the organization, eventually chairing some of them. The duties grow as you become more familiar with the way things work. We are always looking for good people who are committed to making ABLE continue to be the great organization it is. This only happens when people like you let us know you are available.

This year there is one open position for Member-at-Large. Ruth Beattie, of the University of Kentucky, held this position from 2001-05. In addition to being a Member-at-Large, Ruth was one of only two ABLE members to ever host a regional ABLE (known as RABLE). Ruth has been a great person to be a Member-at-Large. Her prowess at Las Vegas was unsurpassed!

So far, we have two nominees for Member-at-Large this year; another slot will open up next year. So, if you are interested in being nominated for a Member-at-Large position, please e-mail Marsha Fanning at fanning@LRC.edu.
