In the Fall 2004 Labstracts, a call went out for donations to support the establishment of a memorial bench for the recently deceased spouse and son of Elizabeth Godrick, Boston University. Elizabeth has been an ABLE member for over 24 years and has been a regular participant at the annual ABLE conference since I began attending over 15 years ago. In Elizabeth’s grief, I was of little help. But over the course of time, I realized that as an ABLE member, we could help provide her with something lasting to comfort her and to remember her loved ones.

In September of 2004, the ABLE Board requested the Natural Resource Board for the Town of Wellesley, MA to establish a bench in the park where Elizabeth’s son’s elementary school once stood. It has now happened. The check for $1000 was fronted by ABLE members who responded to the call for donations and the check was delivered to the Natural Resource chair of the Town of Wellesley by Elizabeth in person. The bench was installed in Spring 2005.

The inscription on the bench reads:

In Memory of Joseph A. Godrick and Matthew J. Godrick
Gift from the Association for Biology Laboratory Education

Thank you to all contributors. If you would like to contribute to the new ABLE memorial fund that supported this effort, please make your check out to ABLE memorial fund and send to:
