Simplify, simplify. ~~Henry David Thoreu

Recent events in the United States, and around the world, have been very unsettling to many people, myself included. In attempting to make some sense of my feelings and the changed world, I have done a lot of thinking and had numerous discussions with family and friends. One common theme that keeps coming to the surface is that of simplifying one's life; to make time for what really matters. So, I would like to share with you some of my most frequently visited web sites; ones that have helped me simplify my life at work.

Microsoft Design Gallery Live (http://dgl.microsoft.com/)
As lab coordinator and departmental webmaster, it seems that I am always searching for graphics, and I end up here again and again. The clipart can only be used with MS products, but most of the images are jpegs and can be used anywhere.

WWW Virtual Library (http://www.vlib.org/)
This is an excellent general resource. Some Virtual Libraries are better than others (for example, the Developmental Biology VL, found under the Biosciences topic is excellent), but all that I have used provide an excellent starting point for the subject area.

Faculty Links from the Science, Technology, and Society Program at Eugene Lang College (http://members.home.net/chamanyk/faclinks.htm)
This site contains almost all of my favorite teaching links (many are also on the ABLE Hot Biology Web Sites page), except for the next one on the list.

Problem-Based Learning in Biology with 20 Case Examples (http://www.saltspring.com/capewest/pbl.htm)
The sample problems are excellent and there are extensive instructions for both instructors and students.

Google (http://www.google.com)
I admit that it took me a long time to find this excellent search engine, so I am passing it on to those of you that haven't tried it yet.

Bartleby's Great Books On-line (http://www.bartleby.com)
This site has not only Gray's Anatomy and The Origin of Species, but various reference, fiction, and non-fiction works.
