Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering, and Technology (SSET) is accepting applications for a tenure-line Assistant Professor in Biology program to start on August 2022. The school offers a Bachelor of Science with concentration in Science, Life Science, Biology and Genetics and Development, in addition to several other undergraduate and graduate degrees in Engineering, Science, and Engineering Technology. SSET is anticipating launching an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in engineering field in fall of 2022. The school seeks candidates with interest and expertise in teaching and research in Plant Biology, Genetics, Breeding, Horticulture, Physiology, Biotechnology, and related fields. Candidates should address their understanding of a college-level teaching and research expectation in their application material and include research activities and publication record related to Plant Biology.
Selected candidate will develop and implement multi-faceted, collaborative, and robust teaching and research programs in Plant biology, Genetics, Breeding, Horticulture, Physiology, Biotechnology and related fields at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Faculty members of SSET are expected to pursue and sustain scholarly research and publication; recruit and advise students; supervise graduate students and laboratories; support tasks required to maintain ABET accreditation and contribute to the department, college, university, and profession through academic and professional service. Faculty are also expected to actively promote and advance the school’s steadfast commitment to students, academic service and diversity and inclusion. A Ph.D. degree in Plant Biology, Genetics, Breeding, Molecular Biology or a closely related field by the time of appointment is required.
