Assistant Professor of Biology

Western New England University

The Department of Physical & Biological Sciences at Western New England University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Biology at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning in late August 2023, pending budgetary approval.

 Candidates should have a Ph.D. in biology, a strong commitment to undergraduate education, and demonstrated teaching abilities. We are seeking a person who can contribute to a broad range of lecture and laboratory sections for introductory and upper-level courses, particularly in general biology, genetics, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and cellular and molecular biology.  The ideal candidate would also develop elective courses for our biology and health science degree programs. Cover letters should include a listing of courses that the candidate is highly qualified to teach.  Although we emphasize undergraduate education, scholarly activity is required for tenure consideration.

Official transcripts of all coursework in higher education are required. (Unofficial transcripts are acceptable during the initial application.) In addition, candidates should have three references submit their letters of recommendation directly to the Chair of the Search Committee, Kathryn Lipson (kathryn.lipson@wne.edu). Full consideration will be given to applications received by January 15, 2023; however, applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.
