The faculty in the Natural Sciences Department at Piedmont University seeks a full-time lab instructor of Biology who will teach undergraduate lab courses and support the operations of our biology labs. The start date for this position is January 1, 2024.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Effective classroom teaching and interacting with students in a professional manner
- Teach 4-5 labs per semester
- Hold 3-5 office hours per week
- Set up and take down labs each week
- Create, post, and grade assignments through Canvas
- Collect assessment data for the department
- Work with faculty to develop new labs
- Work with students workers to prep and clean labs
- Help maintain collections
- Prepare a yearly performance evaluation
- Maintaining accurate and secure records of student grades, attendance, and advisement
- Maintaining high standards of professionalism in the content, objectives, teaching, and grading of all courses
- Filing accurate course syllabi with the School of Arts and Sciences each semester
- Maintaining an understanding of college policies and the curriculum and degree requirements of the programs in their field
- Participating in departmental, school, and college faculty meetings and serving on committees as appropriate
- Contributing to the ongoing operation of their respective department and school
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree or higher in Biology
