Visiting Assistant Professor of Cellular Biology

The Carleton College Department of Biology invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position, with the possibility of renewal, to start September 1, 2025. We seek candidates with a Ph.D. (completed by the start date of employment) in cell biology or a related field, and a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment. Candidates who have substantially completed a Ph.D. may also be considered, at the rank of instructor. The position includes teaching the equivalent of 6 courses, distributed across three 10-week academic terms. Teaching responsibilities will include a course in Cell Biology with two lab sections, coordination of Introductory Biology labs, and lab sections in our introductory biology sequence. Mentoring and support will be provided by Biology Department faculty and Carleton’s distinguished Perlman Center for Teaching and Learning.

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $72,000 and $76,775. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
