On Campus

We have a block of rooms reserved in the Alderman and McIver residence halls off of Raleigh Street. Both residence halls are located on the Kenan front lawn and have porches with wooden benches. Alderman was built in 1937 and McIver was built in 1939. Most of the newly renovated residence halls are being used for housing students and parents during orientation, however, these residence halls have beautiful lounge areas compared to other residence halls on campus.

Both are conveniently located near Franklin Street, the Coker Arboretum, and Morehead Planetarium. Orientation for freshman coming to UNC runs all summer in addition to athletic camps, so the campus will be busy. But housing for our conference will be separate from the other events. Room rates are subject to change but will be approximately $49.00 per night for single occupancy and $24.50 per night for double occupancy.

Off Campus – Close

There are a few hotels near UNC that are within walking distance. They include the Carolina Inn and the Franklin Hotel, however, they are pricey. The Chapel Hill University Inn is a recommended hotel at $69.95 per night but it is not within walking distance. The hotel has a shuttle that provides complimentary transportation.

Off Campus – Elsewhere & Parking

There are other hotels and inns available in town, but still within a 10 minute drive. We have bed & breakfast options including the Chapel Hill Bed and Breakfast and others. These locations are off the UNC campus and will require a car.

If you plan on driving, parking permits will be provided at $6 per day. Parking permits can be picked up at check-in in Alderman Hall if you indicated you needed parking when you registered. The check-in staff will let you know where you can park your car. Parking is free on the weekends.
