Genetics Zoom
Biology Labs Online 0 replies 0 likes 139 viewsHi -
A small group of us teaching genetics in fall 2o2o got together on Zoom last Friday to talk about our planning for how to run class and labs.
Many of us have heard our institutions plan to open in fall with the calendar already published or with the modification to start early, finish by Thanksgiving. This gives most of us about 2 months to prep for whatever happens in fall!
We talked about online quizzes and simulations. We also started thinking about front-loading lab with hands on/data gathering activities so if COVID19 comes in a wave large enough to send students home, we can send students home with data to work with.
I'd like to invite other ABLE members who TEACH GENETICS to join us on our next Zoom at 1 pm (Eastern Time) Friday June 26th. I am working on an agenda and the plan is for a one hour meeting.
Feel free to PM me for the Zoom link and share with a colleague at your institution who teaches genetics. I am at a small institution so it feels very lonely sometimes prepping a class+lab alone -- it was great to see and hear from other people in the same quagmire of what to do in fall 2020 with the same course.
And thanks to everyone participating on this forum. I am really getting lots to think about that is really helpful! Now to parse it out and layout a plan for fall. Cheers -- Robyn P.
