Abstract

Students learn the biological applications of antibodies using common research techniques of western blotting and chicken embryo staining. By completing these experiments simultaneously, students have a greater ability to compare and contrast the steps of the techniques and gain a better understanding of how they work. We will walk participants through the lab, emphasizing a) how we organize these techniques to complete them simultaneously in several lab periods and b) how we emphasize the similarities in the two techniques. Finally, we will discuss our follow up activities and assessments.
