ABLE publishes its newsletter, Labstracts, two times a year: fall (October or November) and winter (February).

Letter from the Editor

The online newsletter is undergoing some changes and will look a bit different from here on out. Even though the newsletter will be in a different form, all the information such as board reports and articles that participants contribute will still be available on the ABLE website, http://www.ableweb.org under News. The 2012 ABLE conference will be held at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Information about the conference will be available soon including deadlines for presenting a major workshop at the conference and mini workshops or a poster. For those of you who have never come to an ABLE conference, consider coming to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in June 2012! You'll enjoy meeting people from all over and come home with great ideas to improve your labs. If you have any interesting news or would like to write about your experiences at an ABLE conference, please feel free to write an article anytime! Just send it to me at bstegenga@bio.unc.edu. President's Report

Let me start by thanking Ruth Beattie, now the Past President of ABLE, for her commitment to and leadership of our organization for the past two years. Our 2011 ABLE conference hosts, Ralph Preszler, Any Marion, and Lina Urquidi were tested by fires (literally), both near and far, yet were unfazed. Treasurer's Report

The reserve funds in the certificates of deposit continue to provide financial stability. The cash flow is also considerably improved compared to recent years due to budgeting by conference hosts that has resulted in credits to the ABLE Treasury, reduced expenditures for publishing the Proceedings, and especially increased memberships and dues payments by PayPal.
